Run away

A little something I’d written for a best friend, sometime last year. Recycling poems is okay sometimes, if you have a lot of pending work.

Tie up those shoelaces, and take my hand,
Gear up and run as fast as you can.
We need to get away, you know it too well,
We don’t deserve to stay in this hell.

Cross the desert, and swim the ocean,
Hide amongst the trees, as the sky turns crimson,
They will chase and try to hunt us down
But before that we’ll make it out of this town.

You know, I know, we both need to,
We have to get away, I’ll run away with you
Trying to hide away from them all,
All the fears now seem so small..

We run, we run, so fast we run,
Away from those men with their guns
Trying to find our way, amidst the dark
As the thorns prick our bodies, too sharp.

As we enter the dark and dense forest,
We head stealthily towards the west..
Hiding away and making our way
Not uttering a word, we dare not say.

You know, I know, we both need to
We have to get away, I’ll run away with you
Trying to hide away from them all,
All the fears now seem so small..

And we run far, with no one in sight,
Hoping to see a ray of light
With tears in our eyes blurring our sight
Wondering, was it worth the effort and fight?

But then comes back all the faith,
And we hold hands, ready to face death,
But what pays off is our determination,
As the sun rises up, over our destination..

And finally at peace, we settled for this place,
For this is where we belong, in our glory and grace,
We know we did right, we needed to run away,
So that from others, we never have to hide away..

A/N: Yes, I do realize that I’ve practically uploaded this on the 4th, but there was a hell lot of work 😦 I’m going to upload another one during the day too, so it evens up. πŸ™‚
